- Mastering the Symphony of Patterns -

Landing on the Patterns project at Repsol almost alone, but with the support of two colleagues whenever I needed them, was like getting a backstage pass to the nuts and bolts of design. My mission? To ensure these building blocks weren't just aesthetically pleasing but supremely functional. Day in and day out, it was a balancing act between investigative work and hands-on creation.

How we rolled

📜 The Documentation Odyssey
My role in documentation was less about storytelling and more akin to crafting a maker's manual. Each pattern needed clear instructions for use, a guide that could take other designers by the hand and show them how to bring their digital creations to life with precision and harmony. Picture drafting the ultimate cookbook for design, where every recipe ensures a Michelin-starred outcome.

In the images above this paragraph, you will find an example of a template designed to streamline the designer’s workflow, making it almost as easy as drag-and-drop. To the right, you can see an example of the documentation for the footer’s pattern.

📬 The Side Gig in Mailing:
Parallel to the Patterns saga, I embarked on constructing the Mailing library from scratch. This was the equivalent of being asked to compose a hit single while still getting the hang of the guitar. It was a deep dive into applying the structural wisdom of Patterns to the dynamic world of email design, ensuring each communication struck the perfect chord.

The content for the mailing is so extensive and varied that a single image doesn't do it justice and you can't even see all of it (sorry for showing you the single image); using several images takes away some of its charm. I can explain it better in person if you'd like. But it was a project where, with the support of my colleague Ander, we completed it in record time.

☕️ Powered by Caffeine and Collaboration
Imagine a blend of strategic meetings and impromptu brainstorming sessions—that was our team dynamic. Our common denominator? Strategic coffee breaks that seemed to percolate ideas as much as they did java. It was in these moments of collective brainstorming that the best ideas came to brew.

Seeing the Impact Unfold

Watching the Patterns project come to fruition and guide Repsol's design strategy was like seeing a well-laid plan execute without a hitch. There's a distinct satisfaction in seeing your work not just exist but actively improve and streamline the creative process for others. Spotting Repsol's design out in the wild and knowing I contributed to that framework is a subtle yet profound nod to the effectiveness of our teamwork. Being a part of that transformation grounding abstract concepts into practical applications? That's the real testament to the power of design.

I can't publish any more of the work, but if you want to know more about the project, write me and we'll have a virtual or face-to-face coffee ︎
